Introduction to Iran’s Chlor-Alkali Industry

The Iranian chlor-alkali industry is supported by several key
producers operating across the country. This section briefly introduces major
Iranian chlorine producers holding national standard certifications, along with
Arvand Petrochemical Company, one of the largest chlor-alkali units in Iran.

Arvand Petrochemical Company

Located in the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone, Arvand
Petrochemical is one of the world’s largest PVC producers. Its chlor-alkali
plant produces chlorine gas, caustic soda, and sodium hypochlorite, supplying
feedstock for regional petrochemical complexes. Arvand uses modern,
mercury-free technologies to minimize environmental impact.

Chlor Pars Company

Founded in 1366 (Hijri Shamsi) in Tabriz, Chlor Pars initially
served municipal water utilities. Industrial production began in 1377, and the
facility has expanded to 21 hectares, increasing chlorine production capacity
to over 85 tons per day. The company is also the sole producer of hydrogen
peroxide and chlorinated paraffin in Iran, exporting products to over 26
countries.

Chloran Chemical Production Company

Founded in 1362 (Hijri Shamsi), Chloran started operations in 1375
in Semnan Industrial Town. With extensive expansions, the company currently
produces up to 300 tons of chlorine gas per day. It is recognized as a leading
private producer in Iran’s chlor-alkali industry, offering products of
international quality and actively exporting to numerous countries.

Nirou Chlor Company

Nirou Chlor was established with investments from Iran’s Ministry
of Energy and Bank of Industry and Mine. Operations began in early 1376 (Hijri
Shamsi). Using modern technology and management systems, the company supplies a
major part of the domestic water and wastewater treatment industries and
exports to over 20 countries.

Pars Kimia Chlor Company

Established in 1389 (Hijri Shamsi) in Shushtar, Pars Kimia Chlor
began full production in 1399. It produces liquid chlorine, caustic soda
flakes, liquid caustic soda, and hydrochloric acid. Thanks to its strategic
location near railways and highways, it efficiently serves domestic markets and
neighboring countries.

Kimia Chlor Kaboudan Company

Founded in 1380 (Hijri Shamsi) in Urmia, Kimia Chlor Kaboudan
specializes in chemical fertilizers, sulfuric acid, and chlor-alkali products.
Using the latest membrane cell technology, it is recognized as a major
private-sector chlor-alkali producer in Iran’s northwest.
